Risk assessments are a critical tool for effective governance in any organisation. While traditionally associated with WHS or security risks and threats, risk assessments should not be limited to those fields and are an important tool in every business function. However, the importance of conducting risk assessments as well as the full range of consequences, of both conducting and not conducting risk assessments, are often underemphasised or misunderstood.
A risk assessment, or analysis, allows us to better understand the actual nature of the risk (and opportunity) in terms of associated activators and consequences.
